Rameder towbars for the classic Mercedes off-road vehicle (EN)
The Mercedes G-Class remained true to itself for almost 40 years, but it still went through some substantial changes over time. The W460 is the oldest and purest design and has a huge following. One particularly well preserved and restored specimen is currently for sale at Lorinser Classic in Waiblingen. The ex-fire brigade G-280-E from 1983 has only 18,700 kilometers on the clock and was recently fully repainted. From July 2020, Rameder offers on www.rameder.eu a particularly versatile hitch block with 120 kilograms vertical load for G-models from this era, supplied with a 2-hole flange ball. The multiple threaded holes on the hitch block offer the advantage of height adjustment while also allowing other tow hitch types, such as a pintle hitch or jaw hitch, to be retrofitted with the correct add-on element. For example: The 1965 fire-fighting trailer – which Lorinser is also offering for sale – can then be correctly towed with a lunette ring.
For the slightly newer W461 and W463, Rameder offers a hitch block including 7-pin electrical kit as well as a normal rigid towbar. The towbar is also supplied with an electrical kit. Both products have a permitted trailing load of up to 3.5 tons, which is the maximum for passenger cars. The hitch block is also available for the particularly interesting G-Class cabriolet, ensuring that the car is practical as well as attractive. Especially when it comes to transporting a boat, one can hardly imagine a more stylish towing vehicle! More information and options can be found at www.rameder.eu, in particular in the Vehicle Configurator.
