Rameder offers convenient bike carrier for caravan drawbars

Taking bicycles along on a caravan holiday is a must for many people. If only it was not for the annoying transport on the car roof with all that heavy lifting. Of course the towbar is already otherwise occupied in this case. Luckily, Rameder – Europe's largest supplier for towbars and transport accessories – has another solution in its range: a carrier for mounting on the drawbar.

The sturdy aluminum carrier is available in the Rameder online shop www.rameder.be and can easily be mounted on the A frame using fastening clips. The rails can be perfectly adapted to the bicycle length and can be used to transport two bicycles (excluding e-bikes) with a total weight of 35 kilograms. The drawbar carrier itself weighs only 6 kilograms and can easily be handled and mounted by one person. But wait – will this not obstruct the gas bottle locker? Maybe, but that is not a big problem, as the support bracket can be swiveled out when it is not loaded, leaving the locker accessible.

The maximum permissible vertical load on the towbar is another factor to take into account. An old set of bathroom scales placed under the jockey wheel or a special nose weight gage can be used to check if the limit has been exceeded. If there is too much weight on the tow ball, it often helps to pack a few heavy items in the caravan behind the axle. To ensure a sufficient clearance angle, a minimum distance of 85 cm is required between the mount and the center of the tow ball. And you are all set to go!
